Q: Can I do a Hot Yoga class if I have never done yoga?
A: Yes! The class is designed for beginners. The Asanas (poses) are simple, yet challenging. The room is hot and you will sweat a lot.
Q: How should I prepare for my first class?
A: On the day of your first class and the day before, drink plenty of water and eat light healthy meals. Stop eating at least 2 hours before the class. If you are taking a morning class get up early enough to have a light breakfast so you do not come starving.
Do not drink any alcohol and also avoid drinking too much coffee, as both of these can be very dehydrating. If you are smoker, give your lungs a brake and do not smoke at least 2 hours before you come. No perfumes or strong scents please!
Q: What should I bring?
A: Bring light stretch clothing and bring a bottle of water. Please bring two large towels. Bring an extra towel if you plan to shower. Bring a yoga mat or you can purchase a new yoga mat at our studio. We have many colors to choose from. If you purchase our New Student Special, your mat will be free.
Q: Do I have to be flexible?
A: Flexibility is not required. Yoga will help you find and maintain your natural range of motion.
Q: Is Hot Yoga an aerobic activity?
A: Yes! Aerobic means "with oxygen". Bringing more oxygen to the blood and the brain is the essence of Yogic Breathing. The practice generates the moving of freshly oxygenated blood to every cell of your body.
Q: Can I still do exercise & sports programs if I practice Hot Yoga?
A: Yes. Practicing yoga in the heat is the perfect complement to any exercise program. It will help you to improve any athletic activity you do. Many professional athletes have practiced Hot Yoga for years, citing its ability to limit sports-related injuries, and to increase performance by creating more clarity of the mind and better breathing.
Q: What if I have pre-existing injuries?
A: You will practice to your own ability. Please tell the teacher in advance about any conditions you have. Feel free to call us if you have any specific questions.
Q: Is there an age limit?
A: Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult in the class. The adult must take the class with the young person. We strongly suggest that the adult come to take class by themselves first, and then make a decision as if you think the class is suited for your particular kids. Each young person is different and you know your kids better than we do.
Q: Do you have changing rooms and showers?
A: Yes, we have comfortable changing rooms and large private showers.
Q: Where do I park?
A: If the lot is full, you can park on 6th Avenue or Proctor Street. Please avoid parking on the residential streets or in the alley. Also do not leave valuables in your car.
Come to class hydrated and eat a light healthy snack 2-3 hours before class. Please have a clean body and clean feet. New students arrive 20 minutes before class to register. To ensure class starts on time, latecomers are not allowed in. Feel free to call us with any questions!
